The Ultimate Commitment!

Seven of the eight major authors of the New Testament were voluntary martyrs for Christ. Such was also the fate of 10 of the original 12 Apostles. Their only "crime" was believing and preaching that Jesus Christ was God come in a human body. If they would have recanted and cursed Christ, they could have been freed.

Andrew was ordered crucified on an x-shaped cross in Achaia, Greece by Governor Aepeas, enraged after his wife and brother became Christians.

Bartholomew Nathanael was flayed alive with sharp knives in India as a foreign missionary.

James, John's brother, was beheaded by king Herod to please the Jews.

The younger James, Alphaeus' son, was crucified in Egypt and his body sawn in pieces.

Judas (Jude) Thaddeus was killed with arrows at Ararat after a successful evangelistic ministry in Mesopotamia and Turkey.

Philip was hanged in Heiropolis and his body wrapped in papyrus and burned.

Simon the Zealot was crucified.

After preaching in Partia and Persia, Thomas was killed with a spear near Madras, India.

Each refused an "easy" escape. Can there be any doubt about how convinced they were regarding the truthfulness of their message? They were willing to seal their writings with their own blood. How convinced are you that Jesus is God and that the New Testament records of Him are reliable?
