What is being Justified?

In Romans 8, Paul was speaking of the new life that the new Christian has in Christ Jesus. He has been justified, meaning that all the sins of the past have been totally erased as though the individual in question never committed them. The person is justified - made right with God. Consequently, the new Christian, or all Christians for that matter, should never allow Satan to bring up to him sins that were committed in his uncovered state. They are gone. They do not exist anymore. Satan is trying to use condemnation, but the Christian cannot legally be condemned by sins that have been forgiven.

Satan also tries to use condemnation against Christians who make a mistake and sin. If they do such a thing, of course they should ask God immediately to forgive them, resolve by God's help and grace not to commit that sin again, put it behind them, and accept God's mercy and forgiveness. These sins, too, are washed away, and the Christian is once gain justified as far as that act is concerned.
